About the artist

Isabella Quack (izzyQ.) is a german, contemporary, symbolist oil painter, illustrator, sculptor and creature maker, who creates surrealistic works as well as mixed media displays by combining canvas (2-D) with sculptural elements(3-D). She got a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Art Academy Düsseldorf in 2015 and pursued a second degree in SFX Make up for Film and Television by attending the Tom Savini program in Pennsylvania, from which she graduated in 2016. The topics of her work are based on folklore, fairytales, fables, mythology and the occult. She enjoys viewing the canvas as a portal between worlds through which the viewer can get sucked into a narrative, or alternatively the subject of the work can come out. Her sculptures often show realistic oversized faux taxidermy animals in playful mundane situations.

She also frequently delves into the topic of art being functional other than purely decorative (e.g. giving sculptures secret compartments and adding lights and fully functioning clockworks to her paintings.)
